AFRICA SAFARIS

AFRICA SAFARIS

AFRICA SAFARIS.

Gorilla Trekking in Uganda, Rwanda and D.R. Congo.

Are you looking for a great memory of a gorilla tour in Africa? Look no further we are here to organise for you an amazing gorilla trekking holiday you’ve been dreaming about.

A combined Mountain gorilla safari in Africa takes place in three countries which are Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). These countries are harbouring the Virunga Mountains which inhabit the endangered mountain gorillas due to the favourable relief, climate and abundance of food.

The 3 countries by 2018 had a total population of 1063 mountain gorillas and Bwindi national park in Uganda leading with 459 gorillas hence having the highest number, almost half the total population.

In Uganda, you can trek these gorillas in only two national parks - Bwindi impenetrable and Mgahinga national parks. Both are located in south-western part of the country.

In Rwanda, you can trek these gentle giants from volcanoes national park and in DR Congo, you can trek these creatures in Virunga national park. All these national parks are interesting and full of attractions like different birds, various kinds of monkeys, olive baboons and large mammals such as elephants, buffalos among others.

While on a combined gorilla tour, you can encounter different cultures neighbouring these national parks and these include; Batwa pygmies and Bakiga in Mgahinga and Bwindi national parks, Iby’Iwachu cultural village for Kinyarwanda culture in volcanoes National park, among others. These entertain visitors through traditional dances, mouth-watering cuisines, story tales and craft work.

The safari to these gorilla destinations can take about 8 days or more but filled with massive discovery and exploration. Each park allows you to trek one gorilla family that is comprised of about 13 or more members. Each family is headed by a male gorilla called ‘silver back’ and it’s identified by the silver hair on its back.

All gorilla national parks are known for this activity and similar schedule; for instance the activity of trekking starts with briefing that lasts for about 20-30 minutes, followed by the assigning of a park guide and allocation to a group of 8 people to trek only one gorilla family depending on the reserved gorilla permit.

Gorilla trekking is a good adventure as you visit the habituated gentle giants in their natural habitats. Watch them play, feed, groom their infants, breastfeed and search for food.

The exercise takes about 2-3 hours depending on where you locate them and this will depend on where they spent a night before. An hour is granted after setting your eyes on them and this will be a photography moment. After the trek, you are rewarded with a certificate of recognition for trekking the endangered mountain gorillas.

Most tourists have doubts about these countries but what you need to know is that these countries are safe and taking a gorilla safari is worth and the best experience. The army forces in collaboration with the police and the park rangers have done a good job in promoting peace and security around these national parks and the countries at large.

Wildlife Safaris in Tanzania and Kenya.

Kenya and Tanzania are famous East African safari destinations endowed with great attractions perfect for sighting and enjoying. They are all well known for having a variety of national parks with diverse wildlife including the historic wildebeest migration which is one of the seven wonders of Africa. The migration starts in Serengeti national park to Masai Mara national reserve.

Kenya and Tanzania safari is a great way to enjoy Africa and meet the big five mammals (elephants, rhino, buffalos, lion and leopard), the big cats, unique and lovely birds which dwell in different water bodies, savannahs, forests and migratory birds that thrill within the park.

The safaris to these two countries, therefore, range from wildlife safaris to beach and culture safaris. In Africa, there over 500 different cultures and these two countries home to most of the renowned cultures like the Masai who like in the Serengeti plains and Masai Mara national reserve.

There is a lot to see, do and enjoy while on your safari to Kenya and Tanzania;

Game viewing/game drive encounters.

This is the commonest activity done is most savannah parks and reserves. This is because it’s easier to spot wildlife in the plains while traversing through the demarcated trails / trucks. This is done by use of designed open roof tourist vehicles and the drive is done in the presence of help from the park ranger guide. The big five can be spotted while on the game drive.

Bird watching.

Due to various bird species in both countries; for instance Kenya has over 1134 bird species and Tanzania has 1116 bird species. Most of these birds are located in game reserves and national parks, swamps and other water bodies. Birds that are commonly spotted are the eagles, geese, hornbills, cranes, weavers among others.

Cultural encounters.

Africa has a diverse culture and ethnicity, encounter the Masai people with their unique culture where you will participate in traditional music and dances, meals, their language ‘Maa’ among others.

Balloon safaris.

These safaris are normally done in Serengeti national park in Tanzania and Masai Mara national reserve in Kenya. The hot air balloon has two shifts morning and evening and each basket carries passenger of 8-16. It last about 2hours through with an eagle eye view of wildlife. The safari will end at the starting point and be welcomed with a glass of wine to quench your thirst.

City tours.

These two countries have beautiful towns/cities like Arusha in Tanzania and Nairobi in Kenya. They have different attractions such as the national museum, snake parks, national parks and giraffe centres. Taking a one day excursion to any of these cities is the worth memorable and rewarding experience.

Chimpanzee trekking.

This is mainly done in Tanzania within the less famous Mahale mountains national park and Gombe stream national park in the western part of Tanzania at the shores of Lake Tanganyika. Chimpanzee trekking is the best experience done in the most remote area which takes about 3 hours watching these primates swinging in tree branches while making echoes.

Zanzibar and Mombasa beaches.

These iconic holiday destination present beautiful beaches with different activities like swimming, sunbathing, and beach soccer, snorkelling among others, making adventure to explore and have fun.

Nature walks.

Take a walk around the forests or savannah plains as you view different animals and bird species. Exploring nature is done by walking around in the lush and fresh environment.

Other activities include; boat cruises, photography and filming, horseback riding and many more.

Best time to undertake a Kenya and Tanzania safari.

These countries can be suitably visited in the dry season which starts in June and ends in October. This is also the time of wildebeest migration. However, taking a safari during wet season is a good adventure as you spot animals in the green lush and enjoy discounts on lodges, activities and flights.

This is when the trails seem to be dry and passable; enabling the parks to be accessed quite easily, good weather for photography and wildlife spotting. Although gorilla trekking can be done throughout the year, this depends on your budget and schedule.

We are here to take you to these countries for a great gorilla trekking safari. Book with us!
