14 DAYS UGANDA SAFARI.
The 14 days Uganda safari rewards you with the most interesting moments and a great experience through discovering Uganda’s wildlife including the primates and the big five animals.
The tour takes you to five national parks that are must visit in Uganda such as Kibale Forest NP for tracking our cousins-chimpanzees, Bwindi to trek gorillas, Queen Elizabeth for tree climbing lions among others. You will enjoy the game drives and boat trips in Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth NP. The safari will commence and end in Kampala Uganda.
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe airport & transfer to a hotel in Kampala capital city
Welcome to the pearl of Africa! The assigned driver guide will transfer you with your luggage to a booked hotel in Kampala. Kampala is the capital city of Uganda located in the central part of the country. The common language spoken here is Luganda.
When you arrive in the morning, take part in a City excursion visit of interesting attractions in form of historical, cultural, religious and city-based attractions. Among others include Kasubi Tombs, Uganda Museum, African Craft Market, and Namirembe Martyrs Shrine.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls NP and Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
A morning drive as you head to the most powerful waterfall in the world (Murchison falls) after a fruitful breakfast and reaching in the early evening. The drive will take approximately 5-6 hours and it will reward you with the best Uganda sightseeing through the natural forests, rivers, and roadside local markets.
Have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, the only place you can trek rhinos in Uganda while in the wild. After trekking the rhinos which is one of the big 5 animals in the world, you will later proceed with the road trip to Murchison falls national park after a delicious hot lunch. Reach in the evening for your accommodation and leisure.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo and afternoon transfer to northern side.
Head for an amazing activity that is chimp tracking in Budongo Forest, after breakfast. This will begin with a short briefing to be informed about the dos and don’ts. You will enjoy other primates like Monkeys, olive baboons, and also beautiful birds like African pied wagtail, crested Guinea fowl, olive breasted greenbul among others.
Lunch & head to the top of the falls that offer a pleasant view and luckily enough, spot a rainbow that is formed when water squeezes itself in the small tunnel. Drive to the ferry crossing point to be able to connect to the northern sector where you will have a game drive following day.
Have dinner and accommodation at the booked lodge.
Day 4: Morning game drive in Nile delta and afternoon boat trip.
After breakfast early in the morning at around 6:00 am, you will go for a morning game drive in the Nile Delta which is the concentration area of wildlife like leopards, antelopes, Giraffes, Elephants, lions. Head back to the accommodation facility and have leisure at the side of the swimming pool.
In the afternoon at 2:00pm, take a launch cruise on the Nile to the bottom of the falls (Murchison and Uhuru falls) as you spot different birds, hippos, crocodiles, and buffalos, antelopes at the banks of the river.
Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park.
Following a morning breakfast, we will set off to Kibale Forest National Park with our packed lunch. We will pass close to Lake Albert. The view on the top of the Albert rift is eye-catching on a clear day.
Arrive in the tourism city of fort portal and have lunch. In the evening you have an option of Crater Lake exploration, coffee tour experiences at the Isunga cultural community.
Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale and community walk.
A relatively early morning start, report to the Kanyanchu information centre to be briefed about how to track our cousin chimpanzees because they share 98% of DNA. Among other ruled while trekking includes flash cameras are not allowed, no feeding of animals, among others.
While trekking, you will encounter other primates like grey mangabey, Colobus monkeys, the rare L’Hoest’s, blue monkeys, black-faced vervet monkeys, olive baboons and also bush babies. Visit the local community either the Bigodi or Isunga community to participate in both the Batooro and Bakiga cultures, meet the traditional healers and local brewers, be entertained with the traditional music and dances and much more.
Day 7: Depart from Kibale NP to Queen Elizabeth NP and evening game drive.
The drive to Queen Elizabeth NP will start immediately after sunrise breakfast at the safari lodge. The drive will be through the local villages, crater lakes and a welcome of the abundant wildlife in the plains of this conservation area. This park homes the rare tree-climbing lions and other members of the Big 5.
Among other animals in the queen include Hippos, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena and the elusive giant forest hog. Also, over 606 species of birds are found here like black-rumped buttonquail, African fish eagle, African skimmer and more.
Primates like chimpanzees can be found in the Kyambura gorge and others are Black Faced Red Colobus, and Red Tailed monkeys, Black and white Colobus Monkeys, Blue, and Olive Baboons are some of the primates found in Queen Elizabeth national park. Embark on an evening game drive after relaxation and lunch at the lodge to be able to spot these animals.
Day 8: Morning game drive and boat trip in the evening.
Morning game drive in Kasenyi Sector which a concentration of wildlife like Elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards, visit salt crater lake & fishing village on Lake George. Take a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel to spot various water-loving animals and birds including hippos, crocodiles, and ducks among others.
Spot birds like malachite kingfishers, saddle billed, pink backed pelicans, pied and stork, animals like buffalos and elephants on the shores on the channel. The following activity will be a slow drive back to the Lodge after this wonderful experience.
Day 9: Transfer to Bwindi National Park.
This morning after breakfast, drive to Bwindi Forest NP in southwestern Uganda bordering D.R. Congo. We will drive through Ishasha the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth. Lunch will be served at Ishasha River camp as we search for the tree-climbing lions.
Afterwards, proceed to the Bwindi a home of the remaining endangered species of gorillas and also having almost half of the gorilla individuals. It is also a good hub for different and unique birds like a white-eyed salty flycatcher, handsome francolin, equatorial akalat to mention but a few.
Day 10: Gorilla trekking.
You will have a continental breakfast and transfer for mountain gorilla trekking in the morning. Report to the headquarters to join the rest of the members and attend a short briefing and be divided into groups of 8people to be able to trek these apes well.
Head in the forest that is impenetrable, parting thick creepers and trek the endangered apes. A reasonable degree of fitness is required because the trek involves hiking and walking long distances for about 2-4 hours. You will have an hour with the gorillas as you spot how they talk, groom or even feeding headed by the silverback. After, you will trek back to the starting point to meet your guide and head back to the accommodation facility for hot lunch.
Day 11: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.
At around 9:00 am after having a continental breakfast, you will set off to Lake Bunyonyi the third deepest lake in Africa and got its name from the abundant small birds (locally referred to as Bunyonyi) around the lake.
It is made of 29 islands that are well terraced and appealing to visitors on this safari. In the afternoon, you may take a canoe ride to visit these islands and take part in swimming or community visits.
Day 12: Explore Lake Bunyonyi.
Have an exciting moment at Lake Bunyonyi and take breakfast as you see birds and rolling hills. This is the Switzerland of Africa that is filled with fresh air, exciting scenery and communities. You will spend the rest of your day at the resort as your exploring the beauty of Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 13: Transfer to Lake Mburo NP.
Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park after your relaxed and delicious breakfast. The journey takes us about four hours with lunch en route. Reach the park in the afternoon and check-in in the booked accommodation facility.
Head for a boat cruise after checking in, the ride takes place on the lake where you will view aquatic life including hippos, crocodiles, and birds.
Day 14: Nature Walk and Transfer to Kampala.
This morning you will go for a nature walk to search for more game with an armed game ranger. This is the only park in the country where you can spot impalas and elands with zebras. Retire from the nature walk for late breakfast.
Drive back to Kampala and stop at the equator in Kayabwe for photographs and craft shopping. Proceed to Kampala to the booked hotel or airport to catch up on your next flight. End of tour.
