3 DAYS NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK SAFARI0

Overview

Nyungwe is a Forested National Park located in the southwestern part of Rwanda situated along the border with Burundi. It covers a large area of Mountain Forest with a variety high number of primates totaling to over 13 species such as; Chimpanzees, Blue Monkey, Ruwenzori Colobus, Owl-faced, Angola Colobus, L’Hoest and many others. It has over 300 bird species, 85mammal, 32 amphibian and 38 reptile species. The highlight to the visit in the park is a canopy walk just above this lush park.

Day 1: Travel from Kigali to Nyungwe

After breakfast, leave the hotel with our guide and transfer on an early drive southwest of the country to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Enjoy the beautiful countryside on the drive through this side of the country. [Optional; en-route stop at Nyanza King’s Palace at Nyabisindi or Gikongoro’s Genocide Memorial for a simple tour]. You have lunch en-route or at the lodge. Meal Plan: Half Board, Overnight: At a selected hotel.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking

Start with an early breakfast at the lodge, leave early to one of the 3 reception area that is Gisakura, Uwinka or Kitabi where you will set-off into the forest to start the Chimpanzee tracking expedition. There are variety of other species of primates you may come across on this tracking session such as; Silver Monkeys, Owl-faced, and Mona Monkeys. After lunch go for another forest experience in search of the forest variety or simply relax at the lodge where dinner and overnight will be. Meal Plan: Half Board, Overnight: At a selected hotel

Day 3: Canopy walk in Nyungwe and travel back to Kigali.

Begin with an early breakfast at the lodge, and transfer to Uwinka reception area from where you will set-off for a remarkable Canopy walk. This is a major highlight to the visit in the park where you will tremble high above a dense jungle, 60metres from the ground. Later after the activity, transfer back to the lodge, checkout and head back to Kigali. Drop off will be at the airport for your flight back home or at the hotel. Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch
