Parc National de Volcans (PNV) is Rwanda’s principal safari destination known for tracking the Gorillas. It is part of the large Virunga, a chain of eight volcanos running across the three countries of Rwanda, Uganda and DRC. With over 10 habituated Gorilla families you will track one of these group on this safari as well as tracking the Golden Monkeys finding home in the Bamboo forest zones of this beautiful park.

Day 1: Transfer to Parc National des Volcans

You will be picked up by the guide at the airport (or the hotel), and then go for a short tour of the Kigali Genocide memorial. Later you will be transferred northwest wards, a journey taking about 2 hours to Ruhengeri. Continue to the lodge where dinner and overnight will be. Meal Plan: Half Board, Overnight: At a selected hotel

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking

Leave the lodge after an early breakfast and proceed with your guide to the park headquarters at Kinigi for registration and briefing from the ranger and later at around 8:00 am enter the forest for trekking the Mountain Gorillas. Tracking can last just a few hours or more (1-8 hours) depending on the group movements, the activity is quite challenging but interesting and worth the effort. Once you meet the Gorillas, an hour is given to you in their presence to watch them and later retreat. A picnic lunch may be enjoyed depending on the trekking time. Later in the evening, Our guide will transfer you and sign-off with a visit to the Ruhondo and Bulera twin lakes. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal Plan: Full Board, Overnight: At a selected hotel

Day 3: Golden Monkey tracking and Return to Kigali

Start with an early breakfast, leave the lodge with your guide and transfer to the park headquarters where you will be taken through briefing from the ranger guide and then at around 7:00 am enter the forest and start tracking the Golden Monkeys. The activity takes about 4 hours as you trek through the dense bamboo forests looking out for these endangered primates. Once you find them, you will use an hour to observe them. Later linkup with our driver guide, and after lunch, leave for Kigali where you will be dropped off at the hotel or at the airport for a flight back home. Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch.
