 At a size of over 1,120 Square Kilometers, Akagera National is Rwanda’s wildlife jewel. The Park is located in the Northeastern part of the country along the border with Tanzania and it is named after River Akagera. It is a diverse park with varied ecosystems including papyrus swamps, forest fringed lakes, savanna plains among others. These harbor variety of wildlife such as Sitatungas, Oribis, Bushbucks, Elephants as well as birds like the Shoebill Stork and Primates like Vervets, Secretive Blue Monkey among others. On this safari, you will view the wildlife in the park on a game drive and boat trip.

Day 1: Departure from Kigali to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, leave the hotel with the guide, and embark on the journey out of Kigali to Akagera via Rwamagara- Rwinkwavu. On arrival, check-in at the booked lodge, and have lunch here. [Optional: in the afternoon you can head for a cultural experience only if there is a minimum of 3 people, this presents opportune moments to try the Imigongo paintings, Sampling of Honey on the comb, dance and many more cultural experiences] or you may choose to simply relax at the lodge where dinner and overnight will be. Meal Plan: Half Board, Overnight: At a selected hotel.

Day 2: Game drive and boat trip

Leave the lodge after breakfast and go to the park for a safari game drive looking out for the wildlife striding across the savannas, expect to see the mammals like the Roan Antelopes, Giraffes, Elephants, and many others. In the afternoon after having lunch you will go for a remarkable boat trip on Lake Ihamba where you will have opportune moments to see lots of marine creatures and birds such as; Hippopotamuses, Crocodiles, the Shoebill Stork an elusive bird species and many others. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge. Meal Plan: Half Board, Overnight: At a selected hotel.

Day 3: Morning boat cruise and return to Kigali

Start with an early breakfast at the lodge and go for a morning, boat cruise for a display of more wildlife including birds and mammals along the shoreline. Later in the afternoon, have lunch, leave the park and transfer back to Kigali be dropped off at the hotel or at the airport for the flight back home. Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch
